Yields Top 5.2%, Gold Slides and Nvidia Unveils AI Safety Platform: What's Going On Today

Wall Street closed lower on Monday, with the S&P 500 giving back 62 points to finish near 7,681 and all three major indexes in the red. The pressure came from the bond market: the 10-year Treasury yield topped 5.2% this week, its highest level in roughly two decades.
Gold and silver took a hit too, tumbling as traders absorbed the surge in yields. Elevated oil prices amid US-Iran tensions added further pressure, after reports that President Trump rejected an Iran peace proposal on Monday.
On Tuesday, US stock futures were flat as a bounce in tech and AI-linked stocks met crude-driven caution, according to Reuters.

Nvidia announced its Open Agent Safety Platform, an open software platform and reference system design aimed at securing AI agents from testing through deployment. The launch comes amid intensifying debate about AI safety and a string of alarming incidents involving autonomous agents.
Meanwhile, top AI leaders are meeting with President Trump at the White House today to discuss the technology. According to Reuters, the meeting will focus on finding a balance between AI development and safety, as industry leaders issue increasingly urgent warnings about the risks.
